Access and car parking for mobility impaired users
The online campus access map shows access around the city campus, including ramped entrances, lifts and chairlifts, automatic doors, toilet facilities and car parking.
Edward Boyle Library
The left-hand entrance door to the Library is an automatic-opening door designed for wheelchair access. There is a lift from level 10, Red Route, down to level 9, providing access to this entrance. There is a wheelchair-height gate to the entrance to the Edward Boyle Library. There are lifts at each end of the floor in the Library, except on level 7 (Conference Room) where there is a wheelchair lift. Please use the phone near the wheelchair lift to call for assistance as the lift is key operated.
Accessible toilets are on levels 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13.
The nearest disabled car parking spaces are at the junction of Cavendish Road and Hilary Place.
There is a wheelchair-height gate at the entrance to the Library which gives access to a wheelchair lift to the main floor. There are lifts within the Library.
Please note that if you require a wheelchair accessible route into the Brotherton Library in the evening and at weekends you will need to use the secured entry though the School of Chemistry. This door opens automatically 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday, and at other times by swiping the card reader located to the left with either a staff, student or Library membership card. Visitors without a card can press the buzzer above the card reader, which is connected to a videophone in Library reception, and speak to a member of staff who can open the door remotely.
An accessible toilet is in the West Building, floor 2, next to the lift.
The nearest car parking is outside the Old Mining Building - accessed from Woodhouse Lane (one space) - and outside the Clothworkers' Court (one space).
Health Sciences Library
The Health Sciences Library is on level 7 of the Worsley Building.
On weekdays between 8am and 6.30pm you can use the walkway alongside the Garstang Building (School of Biochemistry) or the bridge from floor D of Clarendon Wing. Until 6.30pm the main entrance on Clarendon Way can also be used. In the evenings and at weekends there is no access from Clarendon Wing or Clarendon Way.
After 6.30pm and at weekends the entrance to the Worsley building from the walkway by the Garstang Building is secured. Access is by scanning either a staff, student or Library card. Visitors without a card can press the buzzer which is connected to a videophone at Library reception, and speak to a member of staff who can open the door remotely.
There is a wheelchair-height gate at the entrance to the Library.
There is an accessible toilet near the foyer area of the Library.
There is one disabled car parking space for the Worsley Building on Clarendon Way, in front of the building.
St James's Hospital Library
There are six disabled car parking spaces outside the Gledhow Wing.
