Italian e-Resources: getting started
Journal articles
There are a number of databases which index journal articles in the field of Italian. You can type into the search screen for each of these databases the topic in which you are interested to obtain a list of relevant journal articles.
MLA bibliography
The MLA (Modern Language Association) International Bibliography enables users to find books and articles on languages, literature, folklore, and linguistics. Although most of the journals indexed are in English, at least seventy other languages are represented, including Italian. The material indexed comes from all over the globe. Searches of the database can be restricted to particular languages.
Web of Knowledge
This database allows you to search for journal articles using three databases; Science Citation Index, Social Science Citation Index and Arts and Humanities Citation Index. The Arts & Humanities Citation Index is a multidisciplinary index covering the journal literature of the arts and humanities, including Modern Languages.
Newspapers
Nexis
This database allows you to search for full-text international newspapers and news sources, trade and industry publications and company information. The database is updated daily so is a good source of up to date news items of interest to those studying Modern Languages and Cultures.
