Statistics joins maths support at the Library

New statistics support sessions begin from Monday 29 April.

We’re proud to announce that we’re adding dedicated statistics support to our maths programme which forms part of our larger Skills@Library offer.

In a recent poll carried out by one of our Student Ambassadors working within our academic skills service, it became clear that a large number of students use statistics as part of their degree, and almost two thirds have struggled with understanding statistics problems.

So we have created new statistics support that will be available during term time in the Footsteps room at the Laidlaw Library.

From data analysis and presentation, through to hypothesis testing and use of statistical software such as SPSS, support is available to all taught students. Starting with both one-to-one appointments and drop-in sessions, the statistics portion of this programme will grow and expand over time to include dedicated workshops and updated online resources.

You can make a statistics appointment for Monday or Tuesday mornings, or come to a drop-in session on Wednesday afternoons between 1pm and 4pm.

Maths drop-in sessions will continue to take place in the Footsteps room, Monday to Thursday, 1pm until 4pm. One-to-one appointments will also be offered during Friday afternoons.
