Students give top score to Library

Leeds tops Russell Group for third year in the National Student Survey.

In the National Student Survey, 93% of Leeds students agreed or strongly agreed that "The library resources (books, online resources and learning spaces) have supported my learning well". This is the highest score achieved by any of our Russell Group peers, and means the library is one of the very best scoring research libraries in the UK for the third year in a row.

Stella Butler, University Librarian, said: "We're thrilled that our students have rated the service they have received from the library over three years spent studying at Leeds so highly.

"Library staff make every effort to create a welcoming and supportive study environment, whether through maintaining and improving our study facilities, ordering and digitising recommended resources, or providing excellent academic skills support. Our aim is always to listen and respond to student needs and we're always looking for ways to improve our service.

"It's a wonderful boost for all of us for this to be recognised and appreciated by students in the NSS."

The independent annual survey is one of the key indicators of how students rate their time at university, and was completed by more than 300,000 final-year students in the UK in 2019. The NSS asks final-year students about many of the factors that are most important to them, including aspects of their teaching, their subject and their community.
