Renewing and returning
Standard and 7-day loan items can be renewed up to 50 times, providing they are not reserved by another user.
All other categories of loan cannot be renewed.
You may be unable to renew your items if, for example, you have lots of fines on your record or other overdue items.
The self-service page has advice on resolving these issues online.
If there is no online solution you will need to speak to us during staffed hours.
How to renew items
The easiest way is to check your Library record.
You don't have to be on campus to do this.
Students and staff of the University can also renew via the IT and Libraries tab in the Portal.
Call 0113 343 5663. Press 0 to speak to a member of staff during staffed hours.
From January 2013 the 24-hour automated service will no longer be available.
How to return items
Please return items to the Library site you borrowed them from.
Edward Boyle Library:
When the Library is open, use the return slots on your left as you enter: one before the turnstiles and two round the corner, within the Library.
When the Library is closed, use the return slot outside (not available during Christmas and Easter vacations).
Brotherton and Health Sciences Libraries:
When the Library is open, check the item in at a Self Issue unit or put it in the book return box outside.
Items cannot be returned to the Brotherton and Health Sciences Libraries when they are closed.
During vacations, return your items to the Library by post. What's the Library address?
If an item you think you have returned is still on your record:
Contact the Library as soon as possible.
If you are unsure of your items' return dates:
Check your Library record. It is automatically updated when recalls are made and will always show the correct return dates.
