How do I refer my students to a Skills@Library workshop?
Students book themselves onto workshops via our online booking system.
The workshops are very popular and often get booked up quickly at the beginning of each semester - for this reason bookings are only ever available for the current semester.
If you have a student who would like to attend a workshop that is fully booked, suggest that they check the website again at the beginning of the next semester.
Alternatively, they can email Skills@Library and ask to be put on the waiting list for a particular workshop, as there are often last-minute cancellations.
If you have a number of students needing extra support in a particular area, contact us to see if we can arrange a workshop within your school.
What can students expect from a 1-to-1 support session?
Drop-in sessions are available to students on a first-come-first-served basis.
Skills@Library drop-in sessions offer non-discipline-specific advice to improve students' learning development and enhance their academic practice. They can also get help with issues relating to information searching, evaluating, referencing.
Students are entitled to an initial 20-minute session and up to two follow-up sessions if necessary. The 1-to-1 support page has up-to-date session times.
If you are referring a student to our drop-in, please remind them to take along an example of their work and any feedback they have received. They will get the most out of a session by bringing with them a specific issue or query, given the short time available.
