Description
This subfonds contains items concerned with Blackburn's employment and educational work aside from his role as poet and author. After the war, Blackburn became an English Literature teacher and worked at the King's School, Rochester 1945-1948 and St. Marylebone Grammar School, 1948-1960. It was during his tenure as English master here that he took an 18 month sabbatical to be the Gregory Fellow in Poetry at Leeds University. He then worked at the College of St. Mark and St. John, Chelsea (teacher training college) from 1960. He was also a lecturer at Whitelands College in the 1970s. The documents in this subfonds chart this career and the publications that came from it, and provide insights into Blackburn's professional character.
