Description

Comprises:

(1) Personal letters including a letter to 'Jonas' from B.L.' expressing displeasure at the way business had been conducted in his absence, dated 1876. Three letters, dated 1877, to the secretary of the Huddersfield Designers Association from John S. Amley concerning fallacies in a paper by Thomas Paterson on 'Setting according to twilling'.

(2) Details of soap manufacture and ingredients used, Oct. - Nov. 1881.

(3) Bills for setting up a business (cloth manufacturing), 1886-1889. Most are detailed invoices for machinery purchases from various West Riding machinery makers.

Biography or history

Hobson, Clegg and Company, of Kings Mill Lane and Priest Royd Mills, Firth Street, Huddersfield, were woollen manufacturers established ca. 1889.
