Description

(1) A series of versions of Greene's late novel 'Doctor Fischer of Geneva or The Bomb Party', including a complete signed autograph manuscript, a series of TS versions with MS corrections, proofs, and five printed copies of the book: English advance proof copy inscribed and with a three-page autograph draft letter, American advance proof copy, English first edition, American limited signed edition and first American edition, (1978-1980); (2) TS of Greene's novel 'The honorary consul' dated "September 1969 to September 1972" with MS corrections, photocopy; (3) Contracts for the translation, reprinting and film rights to a number of Greene's works, accompanied by some statements of sales, statements of royalties earned, manuscript notes and related correspondence. Works covered include: 'Stamboul train', 'It's a battlefield', 'A gun for sale', 'Brighton rock', 'The lawless roads', 'The confidential agent', 'The power and the glory', 'The ministry of fear', 'The heart of the matter', 'The
third man', and 'The end of the affair'.

Item 1 formerly belonged to Yvonne Cloetta (Sotheby's London, 22 July 1980, lot 513), Maurice Neville (Sotheby's New York, 16 November 2004, lot 315), and Annette Campbell-White (Sotheby's London, 7 June 2007, lot 192). Items 2 and 3 formerly belonged to Greene's literary agent, Laurence Pollinger.
