Michael Lyons: Freeze Frame

Exhibition charting the evolution of Michael Lyons’ sculpture Lenten Cover (1979), recently installed on campus. Guest curated by Judith LeGrove.

9 March - 9 July 2016

From surreal or dynamic forms to archways frozen in bronze, this exhibition charts the evolution of Michael Lyons' sculpture Lenten Cover (1979). Hosted by The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery, 'Michael Lyons: Freeze Frame' spans the late 1960s-1970s, when the visual language of Michael Lyons (b. 1943) reached maturity, and during which his constructed steel sculptures established a strong presence in outdoor exhibitions at the Serpentine, Whitworth and newly opened Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Featuring collages, drawings and sculpture, the exhibition is guest-curated by Dr Judith LeGrove.

'Michael Lyons: Freeze Frame' will be open Monday - Saturday 10am - 5pm. Admission is FREE, and the exhibition runs until Saturday 9 July 2016.
