Cooks and their Books: Collecting Cookery Books in Leeds

An exhibition showcasing highlights from the University Library Cookery Collection.

Friday 1 September 2017 - Wednesday 31 January 2018

Discover how recipes have been copied, compiled and collected through the centuries and learn how attitudes to food have changed over time. This exhibition showcases highlights from the Cookery Collection, established in 1939 when Blanche Legat Leigh donated her cookery books to Leeds University Library. Items on display include Renaissance texts illustrating kitchen furniture and utensils and the first edition of Beeton's Book of Household Management.
