Tuesday Treasure: Music, Musicians and Manuscripts

September’s Tuesday Treasure ties in with the Leeds International Piano Competition and celebrates our rich and diverse music collections.

Dame Fanny Waterman, founder of the competition, donated her personal archive to the University of Leeds earlier this year. Items from her collection will be on show alongside unique material relating to great composers such as Haydn, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Rachmaninoff.

Experience the thrill of seeing autographed manuscript scores at first hand and find out how they came to find a home in Yorkshire. Join us to discover more about the history of music-making in Leeds and learn how a tiny lock of Mozart’s hair moved one pioneering scientist to tears.
