A display of multimedia artworks created by artist Philippa Troutman and poet Ian Duhig for the tercentenary of Laurence Sterne's birth.

Friday 4 September - Saturday 17 October 2015

Digressions is an exhibition of artwork in a wide range of media generated by a project between Philippa Troutman and Ian Duhig begun in 2013, the tercentenary of Laurence Sterne's birth, finishing the following year with a launch exhibition at the Poetry Society in London which transferred to Shandy Hall. Taking immediate inspiration from Tristram Shandy, Troutman and Duhig coupled this with work based on nearby topographical features such as the City of Troy maze, the White Horse of Kilburn, Byland Abbey and the area's history of meteorite discoveries which seemed to reflect patterns in Sterne's novel. Digressions was nominated for the 2014 Ted Hughes Award.
