Avoid holiday fines

What is different about borrowing over the vacation?
As during term time, if you take items out for the vacation you must be prepared to return them if someone else requests them, by post if necessary. Fines of £2.50 a day will still apply for requested books when the Library is open. Please contact us as soon as you can if you are having difficulties returning an item to us.

How will I know if an item I have out is requested?
You will be sent an e-mail asking you to return the item. You may be asked to bring it back sooner than its original due date. The email will tell you what the new date is. You can also see if an item has been requested by regularly checking your library record.

What if I can't get to the library to return the item?
You can return items to us by post. We will take the date of postmark as the date of return, so you need to post it on or before the day it is due.

What is the Library's address?
Please try to return items to the library you borrowed them from. View library addresses

What if I can't return the items by post?
Please contact us as soon as you can if you are having difficulties returning an item to us.

How much are the fines?
If you do not return the item by the new return date you will be charged a fine of £2.50 a day until the item is returned.

Will I be fined when the library is closed?
We won't charge fines on requested items for the days we are closed.

When is the Library closed?
The library will be closed from 5pm on Thursday 21 December until 8am on Tuesday 2 January 2018, so we won't be able to answer the telephone or respond to emails during this time.

How do I know when the items are due back?

Check your library record to see when your items are due back.

Why should I renew my items?
Although we don't charge fines on items that are overdue and have not been requested by someone else, you should still renew your books. If they are more than 2 weeks overdue you will not be able to renew online or borrow anything else. If items are more than 60 days overdue then we assume they are lost and will start the invoicing process to charge you for a replacement.
