The Final Chapter is designed to support both undergraduate and taught postgraduate students working on their research project or dissertation.
The Final Chapter contains lots of useful information such as choosing your topic, doing a literature review, structuring your work and critical thinking. You can also watch videos of staff and students from the University of Leeds sharing their top tips for success. We recommend dipping in and out of the Final Chapter, rather than working through it all in one go.
Thoughout Final Chapter you will see examples of previous student dissertations to show best practice. The full dissertations on our dissertation examples pages.
The specific requirements for final year projects will differ between disciplines. Always follow the guidelines that you have been given by your department, and check with your supervisor if you are unsure of your departmental guidance.
If your research methodology involves working with people, you may wish to join the Minerva organisation Researching People. It provides help with conducting interviews, observations, practice-based research, questionnaires and surveys.
