What will happen when I arrive?

At the end of the entrance corridor there is a row of lockers, for security and conservation reasons you will need to leave your bags and coats in one of these lockers. Clear plastic bags are available if you want to take valuables into the reading room. You can take in and use cameras and laptops - there are power points in the reading room and the group study areas.  Please ring the bell and a member of staff will buzz you in.

Items are not on open shelves and need to be retrieved for you. Please contact us to pre-order the items you wish to view as this will mean items will be ready for you on your arrival, otherwise there may be a waiting time (during busy periods this may take 30-60 minutes).  You will find information on how to search our catalogue and pre-order items of interest in advance on our Visit Special Collections page.

Please note that items from University Archive, Yorkshire Archaeological and Historical Society or Western Campus Store need to be pre-ordered two working days in advance to ensure they can be retrieved and ready for your arrival. Staff will not be able to retrieve this material on demand.
