Keyword search relevancy ranking

Results are categorised depending on where in each record your search terms appear, then sorted by date with newest items first.

The keyword search attempts to bring the most relevant items to the top of your search results.

Search results appear in five groups, ranked from most relevant to least relevant:

  • The first group contains the most relevant results: those where the search term or exact search phrase appears in the main title of the item
  • The second group contains other highly relevant items: those where the search term or exact search phrase appears in the subtitle or any other title information from the record
  • The third group contains items where the search term or exact search phrase appears in important parts of the record other than the title, such as the Contents or Series
  • The fourth group contains items where all of the words from the search phrase are in any part of the title information, in any order
  • The fifth group contains items where all of the search terms appear in any part of the whole record, in any order.
