Ghost stories, Pablo Fanque, music in the reading room, and much, much more!

The Library is once again getting involved and hosting a number of events for Light Night on Friday 4 October in the Brotherton Library

Ghost stories in the Brotherton Room

This year's Ghost Story is a performed by a small cast of students from the Theatre and Performance course.  It's a very popular evening event, so a ticket is needed. Book online from 27 September.

Music in the Brotherton Library Round Reading Room

A rare chance to hear live music reverberating in the spectacular marble and oak round reading room of the Brotherton Library, performed by musicians from the Grammar School at Leeds.  Everyone welcome.  Performances will be at 7.45pm and 8.45pm.

Pablo Fanque in Special Collections

The UK's first black circus master, who died in 1871 is buried in the University grounds. For Light Night Mr Fanque will make a guest appearance and greet you in the reading room where he will help you discover the amazing facts of his life; read the history of the Victorian circus; and reveal his place within Leeds' hidden African heritage. Unique artefacts from Special Collections will be on display to help Mr Fanque tell his stories...

Invisible Structures at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery

Invisible Structures is a drop-in, family-friendly event exploring (through both art and science) objects that can only be seen using light. The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery is located opposite the Brotherton Library, in Parkinson Court.
