COVID-19 and the Library
Check here for the latest updates on the Library's response to the coronavirus.
We will keep this page up to date with any changes in our service and @UoLLibrary will have the latest news. The health and wellbeing of our staff and visitors is our priority.
Open online for business
We are providing an expanded set of electronic resources for research and learning. We are liaising actively with publishers, and the electronic provision of books and other materials, and the number of simultaneous users, is rapidly increasing. These are available through Library Search. We will continue to work with our suppliers to provide more access to electronic resources.
See Eresources: your questions answered for our top advice on accessing online resources from home.
Browse our list of resources that publishers have made open and freely available during the pandemic, in addition to our subscribed resources.
Library staff are working remotely to support student education and research, see below for details.
Reading lists and online open book exams
Module leaders: if you expect students to access texts for assessments, please make sure that your reading list is up to date as soon as possible using the Minerva Reading List tool. If a particular text is critical for a piece of assessment, please use the speech bubble on the Minerva Reading List toolbar to let us know.
There may be limits to the number of students who can access an online text at any one time, so it is important to flag texts that you expect students to be using intensively over a short assessment period.
See Make items available for students for guidance on how to use the Minerva Reading List tool.
Please email the reading lists team with any queries about your reading list or if you need to discuss provision.
Library enquiries and buildings
Our library buildings are closed, until further notice.
All enquiries are online only – contact us by email or through webchat on the Library webpages.
Please don’t return any items from now on, as we won’t be there to deal with your returns. Fines and recalls are suspended, so you can keep hold of the books you have out until we reopen. If you have received a request for a book you have on loan, you don’t have to return it.

It is unlikely that we can fulfil document supply requests for books. Very many of our partner libraries are unable to supply to us at the moment.
We will continue to try to supply articles for you. If in doubt please submit the request, but we may not be able to get your material to you as quickly as we would like to.
