Christmas opening hours and your exams

Extended festive opening hours, revision support and more.

Exams can be challenging at the best of times, and for some of you this will be your first exam experience of the pandemic. Whether you are on campus or at home, we are here for you over the Christmas period to support your revision with a place to study, revision and exam resources.

The Laidlaw is open throughout the festive period

We’ve extended our opening hours so you have somewhere to study and revise during the Christmas holidays. The Laidlaw Library will remain open from 9am until 5pm everyday apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day and Sunday 2 January.

Other campus libraries close on Sunday 19 December and will reopen on Tuesday 4 January. Any enquiries sent during this time will be answered after when buildings reopen. View our full opening hours for more information.

Please wear a face-covering at all times while in the Library.

Study space

Most library study spaces are available for you to drop-in, with no need to book ahead.

Some study spaces can be booked in advance. Visit our study space webpage for full details on how to book. Please do not sit in these spaces if you haven’t booked a seat.

Revision and exams support

Our Revision, Procrastination and Exams padlet contains lots of revision support and guidance brought together in one place, to make things as easy as possible for you.

We’ve curated a selection of the best exam and revision resources, including revision techniques, online exam resources, tips from our Skills@Library Learning Advisors, and ebooks that will help you achieve exam success.

Look after yourself

Preparing for exams can be stressful, so it is important to look after yourself while revising.

Make sure you take some time for yourself:

  • schedule regular breaks from revising
  • take time away from your screens
  • do something fun to take your mind elsewhere, such as reading a book, listening to music, going for a walk, or doing some gentle exercise to wind down.

If things get difficult, there are university networks that can help. Leeds University Union are on hand help and support, while The Student Counselling and Wellbeing Service offer self-help resources alongside mental health and wellbeing appointments through Zoom.

If you would prefer to reach out anonymously, togetherall is also available for you to unpack your thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential online space.

Have a Happy Christmas

Whether you’re studying in the Laidlaw Library, accessing resources from home, revising hard or taking a much-needed break, we wish you a Happy Christmas!
