Prize draw winner awarded iPad by University Librarian

LUBS student wins iPad

Thank you to everyone who completed our Library survey in November. We received over 4,000 responses. The lucky winner of the iPad was Yan Zhuang, a Masters student in Leeds University Business School (LUBS).

Yan Zhuang was awarded her prize by Stella Butler, University Librarian, who said, "Feedback from our readers is vital to the development of the Library. We are enormously grateful to everyone who took the time to complete this survey. It will allow us to tailor our services more closely to the needs of our different customer groups."

Yan filled in the survey whilst taking a break from studying in the Library, and remembers filling in our 2011 survey when she was an undergraduate! She told us that she is delighted to have won the iPad, and that it will be great to have for personal use as well as study.

Jane Saunders, Head of Customer Services, is responsible for analysing the results of the survey. She said, "We are extremely grateful to all our survey respondents, more than 4000 of them, who, like Yan, took the time to tell us what they think about our Library service and how we can improve it for them.  This is an excellent response rate.  I'll be looking at the data to identify the areas where the Library needs to improve to ensure a better service for our students and staff."

The 2011 Library survey highlighted the need for longer opening hours (especially around examinations), and students wanted to see improvements in the speed at which they could access texts. In response to that feedback, we have introduced 24/7 opening of the Edward Boyle Library during the examination periods, increased purchasing of e-books, and changed the Library's loans and fines procedure.

The results of the 2011 survey are available now, and the outcomes of the 2013 survey will be published in the New Year.

The Library survey is not your only opportunity to tell us what you think. If you have comments or questions, we welcome your feedback at any time.
