The secrets of early printed books: Lord Brotherton’s incunabula revealed

Some of the earliest European printed books can be found on the shelves of Leeds University Library.

Printed, painted, bound, decorated, bought, sold, autographed, annotated and doodled in, this talk will offer an illustrated overview of the oldest books collected by Lord Brotherton of Wakefield. Many of them are extremely rare, all of them over 500 years old, and all with fascinating stories to tell.

The Leeds Town Hall lunchtime talks, focus on items held in Special Collections. Events are free, but please book to reserve your place.
