New Search@Library

The Library has launched a new Search@Library, which will change the way you find print and online resources. Search@Library brings the Library's full text content together in one search. This means you can now search for individual journal articles, without having to first look up the title of the journal the article is in.

Changes to how you contact us

Over the summer, our Faculty Teams and Skills Team have been reorganised into learning support and research support teams. If you need to get in touch, just email library@leeds.ac.uk and you will receive a response from the appropriate team.

E-book purchases

In the last academic year (2013/14), the Library purchased 5,600 individual e-books - 2,658 of which were purchased as a result of trial usage by staff and students. In 2014/15, we'll be continuing to purchase ebooks (where publishers have made these available to institutions) to improve your access to core texts.

Stock moves

Health Sciences Library: we have reorganised the book and journal collections to make room for 50 new study spaces, and to improve lighting and ambience.

Edward Boyle Library: in preparation for the EBL refurbishment (summer 2015), we have rearranged level 13 desks to open up the floor and reduce the cramped study areas. The Student Reference collection that was on level 13 has been integrated into the subjects collections on other floors.

Laidlaw Library building developments

August 2014 saw the official topping out ceremony of the Laidlaw Library (on schedule to open after Easter 2015).

A sculpture by the internationally renowned artist Simon Fujiwara has been commissioned for the main entrance to the Library (on Woodhouse Lane), and works produced by Leeds students have been selected for the interior.

Portal Changes

The "Student Services & Admin" tab is now called "Academic Admin". In addition to all the things you could do from this tab before, there is now one-click access into registration and absence reporting.
