Industrial action and opening hours

There will be disruption to services and opening hours from Thursday 24 – Wednesday 30 November due to industrial action.

There is industrial action planned every day between 24–30 November inclusive.

This will likely affect when library buildings can open and how we deliver Library services. We have made plans to try to mitigate any disruption caused for students and staff on campus – however, opening hours may change at short notice.

Please check Library Twitter @UOLLibrary and the Libraries opening hours before you visit.

Opening hours

We aim to open as many libraries as we can for as long as possible. The opening hours during the industrial action are likely to be as follows.

Edward Boyle Library

Weekdays: 9am – midnight
Weekend: opening this library will be the priority

Laidlaw and Brotherton Libraries

Weekdays: 10am – 5pm
We will open these libraries for longer hours if it is possible to do so.

Health Sciences Library and St James’s Hospital Library are likely to close.

Services affected

Enquiries service will experience delayed response times.

Workshops and online events might be cancelled, but online resources for study skills and research support are available.

Galleries are likely to close, although online exhibitions are still available.

Check before you visit

Please check our opening hours before visiting our buildings on these dates.
