Get off to a Flying Start

Develop your skills and adapt to learning at university level with our Flying Start resource.
There is a lot to think about when you start university, but Flying Start can take some of the pressure off by helping you to prepare for study at the next level.
Flying Start helps you to learn how to study effectively and independently so you can quickly adapt to your new environment. Each section introduces you to new concepts and contains practical advice from our expert Learning Advisors and from other students who have been in your position.
Topics range from introducing you to new ways to learn, all the way through to making the most of lectures and seminars. There’s even a glossary of all the terminology that might be new to you.
Workshops for you
Starting on 28 September, we are running a series of lunchtime workshops to help you build on your skills and prepare yourself to take on your course. You don’t have to book in advance and you can come to as many sessions as you like. In-person sessions will be held in the Laidlaw Library level 1 teaching room.
Take a look at the list below and make a note in your diary for the sessions you want to come along to. We look forward to seeing you there!
