New artwork installed near stage@leeds

An artwork by sculptor Dame Barbara Hepworth is now on campus.

The bronze piece, titled Dual Form, is located by stage@leeds.

Dual Form was produced in 1965, the same year Hepworth was made a Dame Commander of the British Empire. Born in Wakefield and trained at Leeds School of Art, she was a celebrated modernist sculptor, and the first woman to be a trustee of the Tate Gallery.

Her sculpture is on loan to the University from Leeds Art Gallery.

Curator Nathalie Levi is giving a free talk about Dual Form and Hepworth's career. Meet outside stage@leeds on Wednesday 10 August at 12.45-1.15pm.
