The opening party was a great success

Over 200 staff and postgraduate researchers came to the launch party for the Research Hub on level 13 of the newly refurbished Edward Boyle Library on 24 October.  Researchers from all disciplines explored the wonderful new facilities including:

  • bookable group study rooms kitted out with large LED screens and Airmedia
  • bookable individual study rooms
  • research meeting rooms
  • comfortable seating areas
  • lockers
  • extra large study desks with individual lighting, good internet connection and sockets for charging mobile devices

Research students were enthusiastic about the Hub:

"There's lots of space to really spread out with your research if you're in a very intensive period of writing up. I will be using this space a lot"

"We liked the silent area and study rooms that are just perfect for students who may not have desks, or may not have space to be able to carry out their research properly"

It was also a chance for researchers to meet the Library's Research Support, Special Collections and Research Data Management teams and discover how the Library can support them with their day-to-day research. The meeting room whiteboards were left full of great suggestions for how the Research Hub could be used by researchers.
