Location: Treasures of the Brotherton Gallery

Time: 13:00 - 14:00

Cost: Free, booking required

Book online via the Northern Opera Group box office

Join Dr Bryan White, Senior Lecturer in the School of Music, and David Ward, Artistic Director of Northern Opera Group, for a look at how opera scores were produced in the 18th century and who bought and played them.

Leeds University Library's Special Collections is home to three early editions of Thomas Arne's opera Alfred, printed in 1740, 1751, and 1757. We will explore why these three scores of Alfred differ so much and what this means when performing the opera today.

Northern Opera Group is a registered charity dedicated to creating opportunities for audiences and performers to experience great opera. This event is part of the Left Bank Opera Festival 2017.
