Special Collections August closure week

Books in the Brotherton Room of Special Collections

Special Collections is closed 20-25 August

This allows us to make some significant stock moves, prepare for future improvements, and streamline procedures.

Projects carried out during this week include:

  • The addition of around 100 boxes of books to our Cookery Collection. The new Bateman Collection will be a valuable addition to our existing cookery material. The closure week will allow us to catalogue the items, making them available for research.
  • The transfer of printed, high-demand sources from the University Archive to the Special Collections Reading Room. This will help with the plan to make Archive material available in Special Collections from later this year.
  • The reassessment of our temporary storage areas to help with improvements to our accession procedures.

We will continue to answer email and telephone enquiries, also ensuring that working space is available for readers who are unable to rearrange their visits.
