Helping new undergraduates before they arrive

The Flying Start website is now online, helping prospective students with the transition to University life by demonstrating how to study effectively at university, in an engaging and step-by-step manner.

Launched by Skills@Library to coincide with the A-level exam results, as soon as a student accepts their place they receive a link directly to the page relevant for their course, encouraging them to engage, so that they can feel more relaxed and prepared for the changes ahead.

The website presents a mix of information that is subject specific and relevant to all disciplines. Starting with welcome videos, the site will grow over the next four weeks until the students arrive at Leeds, to include topics such as: independent learning, research, contact time and assessment.

Students receive facebook or twitter alerts when new material is added to the site.

Have a look at the Flying Start website and let us know what you think!
