Step Up to Masters

Don’t miss these Masters drop-in sessions

Whether you're returning to Leeds or joining us from another institution, a Master’s degree can be an exciting but daunting new phase in your academic life. Step Up to Masters is the Libraries’ key resource to help you to make that leap as smooth as possible. It explains how to develop your academic voice, pro-active learning and what you need to take your next steps.

We’re also running Step Up to Masters drop-in sessions so that you can put a face to the staff helping you to achieve success this year.

The sessions will be held in Teaching Room 1 on the first floor of the Laidlaw Library. There is no need to book in advance, just show up on the day to meet your peers and get face-to-face support from our learning advisors.

There will be four sessions covering a range of subjects aimed at giving you the best start to your Master’s experience.

  •  Monday 23 September  – Developing your confidence
  •  Tuesday 24 September – Managing your reading
  •  Wednesday 25 September – Critical thinking
  •  Thursday 26 September – Maths and statistics strategies

These sessions will help to evaluate your existing skillset, discover how you can develop those skills and prepare you for the new challenges of studying a Master’s level.
Our Learning Development team runs workshops and drop-in sessions throughout the year. Be sure to check out the Workshops page to see how we can support you this semester.
