Poll result - £2.50 a day fine for requested items

Your feedback tells us that £2.50 is a fair charge for the late return of items requested by other Library users. And, if you return standard loan items late, as long as they haven't been requested, you won't be charged fines.

In our recent poll on fines, you told us what would encourage you to return a book on time, when requested by another user. A fine of £2.50 a day on requested items which are returned late, will make sure we can satisfy well over half of all requests much more quickly.

We're also making 7-day loan items into 'core texts' that you can borrow for the same length of time as a standard loan.

This will take effect from 5th August 2013.

High demand 4 hour and 1 day loan items cannot be requested, so the rate of fines on those isn't changing.
