Notes in pencil manuscript on the recto of the first front flyleaf giving details of the edition and bibliographic references.
Occasional marginal annotations in black ink manuscript in two different hands, late fifteenth- and sixteenth-century.
Manicule in black ink manuscript in the outer margin of h1v.
The major initial on a1v is supplied and decorated in red against a blue, green and white background with pen ornamentation in black and red.
The major initial on a3r is supplied and decorated in blue against a red background with yellow detailing. Pen ornamentation in black and red extends down the inner margin.
Bindings
Eighteenth-century quarter binding of brown calf over pasteboard with a green goatskin back. The upper and lower covers are decorated with a blind-tooled single fillet border. The spine has five raised bands with gold-tooled double fillets to either side of each. In the second panel is a pared red leather lettering piece gold-tooled with a border of double fillets and containing the words: Laurentius Valla Elegantia linguæ latinæ. At the base of the spine is another pared red leather lettering piece gold-tooled with a border of double fillets containing the place and date: Venetiis 1480. The pastedowns are of marbled paper featuring the spot pattern in pink, blue, yellow and cream. There is writing in ink manuscript on the fore-edge, now indistinct. Size: 297 x 212mm. Leaf size: 288 x200mm.

Coloured armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the front pastedown. The book was most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
