Description

The collection includes the Pennine Poets' Group's journal 'Pennine Platform' no.1, 1979-no.94, 2023, and other publications by members of the Group such as Pauline Kirk and Ian Emberson. The publications include 'Eleven Wonders' by Julia Deakin, 'Tear Up the Lace' by Adam Strickson, 'Crooked Smoke' and 'Plums' by Nicholas Bielby, 'Write Me a Few of Your Lines' by Chris Hardy.


The collection also encompasses the papers of Pauline Kirk, including material relating to Fighting Cock Press; papers of Jean Barker.


Also includes 'Walking Through' by Chris Bridge, 'About Painters and Paintings' by Nicholas Bielby, 'Bay of Ghosts' by Rob Hawley, 'Photovoltaic' by Sarah Watkinson and 'Squaring the Circle' by Deborah Mason.


New editions of "Pennine Platform" published from 2010 onwards have been added to MS 1915/1.


The collection also includes publications by Graft Poetry a publisher in Bradford.

Biography or history

Founded in 1966, the Pennine Poets is a group of acclaimed and widely published writers who meet for creative workshops, stage readings and festivals, and produce a journal, 'Pennine Platform'. For many years the group was based in Heckmondwike, Yorkshire and are now based in Wakefield.
