Bindings


Binding of brown and black marbled paper over pasteboard, probably nineteenth-century. Printed in black between lines of ornamentation on a red paper lettering piece at the top of the smooth spine are the words: Historia Lombardica. The leaf edges are sprinkled red. Size: 289 x 220mm. Leaf size: 279 x 205mm.

Coloured armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the front pastedown. The book was most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
