Very occasional marginal annotations and manicules in black ink manuscript.
The major initial on leaf [9r] is supplied and decorated in blue with pen ornamentation in red extending down the inner margin.

Bindings
Binding of quarter vellum and brown sheepskin over pasteboard, probably eighteenth-century. The sheepskin on the upper and lower covers is much worn. The vellum spine, where it overlaps onto the upper and lowed boards, is blind-tooled with multiple fillets. The spine has six raised bands. In the second panel is a pared black leather lettering piece gold-tooled with a border of fillets and the words: Spinæ Fortalitium fidei. The pastedowns are of red paste paper and the leaf edges are sprinked red. Size: 391 x 307mm. Leaf size: 381 x 285mm.
Provenance
Coloured armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the front pastedown. The book was most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
