Description

Letter to Joseph Leyland requesting that he send John Brown materials for blacking white marble. Also comments on the reaction in Haworth to Leyland’s monument (for Thomas Andrews), and asks that Leyland explain to Mr Constable why Brontë has delayed responding to his note. Letter also refers to the boxers Benjamin Caunt and Charles Freeman ‘the American giant’, whom Caunt brought to England in March 1842.
