Description

The Virgin Mary kneels by the altar and presents the Christ Child to the High Priest, Simeon, who is holding a white cloth. A handmaiden behind the Virgin carries two turtle doves in a basket, offered as sacrifice for the Purification of the Virgin, an event likely to have taken place at the same time. Joseph stands behind the altar, holding a long candle.
