Description

The full-page miniature depicts the scene of the Last Judgement. Christ is depicted blessing, with sword and lily, inside a mandorla, feet resting on a blue globe, clad in a red cloak, hands and feet showing stigmata. A group of figures, the Apostles and others, surround Christ on both sides, with Peter (with white beard) and Paul in the foreground on the right. This scene is divided by a light blue cloud from the scene below showing Heaven and Hell. Here on one side two angels lead a line of pale, naked figures, saved souls, to Peter, who waits with outstretched arms at the gates of Heaven. On the other side eight dark devils with open mouths, big pointed ears and long tails surround grey, naked figures, caught in Hell-fire. The side border is composed of a column with a gothic pinnacled tower, depicting Christ with orb, and below, the Virgin (?) with two male saints. In the lower border are two fighting lions and a monkey tied to a tree.
