In the second panel is a red pared leather lettering piece on which are tooled, in black, the words: S. Bernardi et Gilberti Sermones in Cantica. Written in black ink manuscript directly onto the spine in the third panel is the date: 1497. In the fourth panel are the remains of a pale green leather pared lettering piece with a faded letter B in ink manuscript. The leaf edges are sprinkled with blue ink. Watermarks on the flyleaves of Pro Patria and J. Honig & Zoon. Size: 282 x 213mm. Leaf size: 275 x 200mm.
Provenance
Cutting from a French sale catalogue on the front pastedown.
