Bindings
Binding of quarter calf over bevelled wooden boards. The leather spine has four raised bands and is marked with a cross-hatched pattern which is most prominent where the leather overlaps onto the upper and lower boards. Gold-tooled in the second panel are the words: Dionysius Halicarnasseus. In the fourth panel is the stamp of the Brotherton Collection in gold. Gold-tooled at the base of the spine are the place and date: Venetiis 1480, with the gold removed from the word Venetiis. Size: 320 x 222mm. Leaf size: 303 x 206mm.

Cutting from a sale catalogue on the inside of the upper board.
Coloured armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the inside of the upper board. The book was most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
