Description
The collection includes an extensive reference section including collections of periodicals, reports and associated material all grouped together by geographical area, with alphabetic sequences of periodicals on international women’s issues. The collection also contains a series of reports on women in various countries commissioned by CHANGE for the EC. It includes research notes and associated material for projects on women and development and violence against women. The collection also contains material relating to CHANGE projects titled: ‘Anti-Trafficking Project’, ‘Non-Consensual Sex in Marriage Project, ’Women Living Under Muslim Law’(?). National Association of Women’s Organisations (NAWO).
Biography or history
CHANGE, a women’s human rights organisation based in London, operated all over the world. Its purpose was to promote and protect women’s human rights worldwide, and to effect real change in all aspects of women’s lives. CHANGE fulfilled these aims through research programmes, dissemination of information and lobbying and training other organisations and individuals. CHANGE had Consultative Status with the United Nations and collaborated with the British Council, The Council of Europe, and various other international bodies on research, advocacy and training programmes.FAN holds an extensive collection of CHANGE material, donated by Georgina Ashworth (CEO of the organisation), which includes its reference library, organisational, research and campaign papers.
