Two boxes collected over 50 years including a large range of cards and postcards (details in box 01); documents and pamphlets on feminism, peace

and women returners; a speculum (used in women's self-examination group); and badges.

Biography or history

Lynette (1949 - ) has been involved in a variety of of feminist groups and campaigns since the 1970s.

She studied electronic/microprocessor engineering and taught computer hardware and the social implications of computing at Leeds Polytechnic/Leeds Metropolitan University. She is also an artist and later studied at Leeds College of Art. She was involved in a number of women’s and feminist artists groups and organised women artists events and conferences and participated in women’s art exhibitions.

She was an active member of the Communist Party of Great Britain CPGB) from 1964 until it disbanded in 1991 and was District Women’s Secretary for many years, organising women’s events and conferences and district women’s schools.

She was involved in women’s consciousness raising groups and campaigns in Leeds in the 1970s and 1980s and is currently a volunteer at the Feminist Archive North (2024).
