The first leaf a1 has been mounted.

Bindings


Nineteenth-century binding of quarter calf and red mottled paper over pasteboard. On the smooth spine is a pared red leather lettering piece gold-tooled with the words: Martialem MCDXC. Near the base of the spine is a paper label with the number 25 printed in black. There is some damage to the head of the spine. Size: 310 x 220mm. Leaf size: 305 x 210mm.

Provenance

Coloured armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the front pastedown. The book was most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
