The place and date of printing derives from the end of the preface on [*]1v which reads: Ex Lugduno pridie ydus septembrias: huius anni. M.cccc.xciiij [i.e. 12 September 1494].


Printer confirmed in preface: in hac arte solertissimum virum Magistrum Joannem Trechsel istinc... sollicitare. vt ingeniosissimi viri Magistri Guilhelmi ockam dyalogon quam primum impressioni mandaret.

Bindings


Binding of quarter pigskin and mottled brown calf over pasteboard. The pigskin spine has five raised bands. In the second panel is a pared black leather lettering piece gold-tooled with a frame and the words: Ockami Opera. In the third panel is a similar lettering piece gold-tooled with a border, two lines of scalloped decoration and the word: Varia. The leaf edges are coloured red. Size: 275 x 212 mm. Leaf size: 266 x 195 mm.

Provenance

Written at the head of the title page [*]1r in black ink manuscript: Facultatis philosophiæ Viennæ 1686.


At the base of the title page [*]1r is a purple oval library stamp, partially rubbed out and now indistinct.


Coloured armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the front pastedown. The book was most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
