Comprises: 1) Minutes of the various council, open, special and annual general meetings of the Association, 1865-1997, with printed notices of these forthcoming meetings pasted into the volumes at their appropriate points, as well as manuscript notes and newspaper cuttings, and each set of minutes signed in ink by its appropriate chairman; 2) 27 cards detailing the executive officers of the Association and annual programmes of talks, 1972-2002; 3) 60 volumes 'Leeds Association of Engineers Annual Report and Journal', 1938-1999.

Biography or history

The Leeds Association of Engineers (formerly known as the Leeds Association of Foremen Engineers and Draughtsmen) was established in 1865 to bring together those involved in engineering to discuss matters relating to the industry; for the circulation of information on technical and scientific subjects; and to provide assistance to members in need. An annual programme of lectures, works visits and social functions was also arranged.
