Description

Autograph miniature manuscript commencing “Reader I’ll tell you what - my heart is like to break ...”. Unsigned and undated, later titled “FIRESIDE TALES” on cover and at end in another hand.


The manuscript comprises an introduction, then four chapters, concluding with a three-page poem (later published in the 1846 Poems as ‘Mementoes’), in a miniature hand with revisions throughout. Some later pencil annotations in another hand.


35 pages (plus blank final verso), 8vo (195 x 120mm), watermark (J Green & Son I 1834), indistinct blind stamp. Original brown paper wrappers.
