Bindings
Late nineteenth-century binding of half brown goatskin and cloth over pasteboard. The spine has five raised bands and gold-tooled in the second panel are the words: Biblia Aurea. Gold-tooled at the base of the spine are the words: Argent Gruninger. Size: 212 x 149mm. Leaf size: 203 x135mm.
Provenance
Beneath early sixteenth-century manuscript notes in Spanish on the title page (a1r) is an indistinct name.
Coloured armorial bookplate of Lord Brotherton on the front pastedown. The book was most likely acquired after 17 June 1929 when Sir Edward Allen Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield. Also, on the back pastedown, inverted, the small black and white armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton.
