These databases are available for use by Leeds staff and students both on and off-site within the terms of the license agreements. Off-site users will need to login using their Leeds username and password.

AfricArXiv

AfricArXiv is a community-led multidisciplinary digital archive for African research. It is working towards building an African-owned open scholarly repository and a knowledge commons of African scholarly works to catalyse the African Renaissance.

British Standards Online

The full text of British Standards, covering: specifications for products, dimensions, and performance; methods; codes of practice; guides and glossaries. Also find BS equivalents to ISO and EN standards. Updated daily.

Construction Information Service

Construction Information Service (CIS) allows access to current regulations, construction standards, technical advice and industry news on building, engineering, design and construction processes in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. Search filters allow you to query over 26,000 documents including full text copies of British standards, CIBSE documents, and technical data from more than 500 publishers. This database is updated weekly.

Dimensions

Dimensions is the world’s largest linked-research database, covering articles, grants, patents, clinical trials, datasets, policy documents and technical reports. It also provides research metrics. There is a free version open to all, or a subscription version.

You must register for an account with your Leeds email address to get full access, from a computer within the University’s IP range or through the virtual desktop. Once you are registered, you can access the database from off-campus. If you are a student, you can put “student” in the job title field.

ESDU Data Online

Search for validated engineering design data, methods and software, source code, equations and examples. The ESDU design guides are organised into 23 series, each covering a specific subject area in six engineering industries: Aerospace, Aerostructure, Construction, Marine, Power generation, and Rail transport. The database is updated four times a year with coverage starting from 2006.

ICE Virtual Library

A full text civil engineering database containing all the peer reviewed papers produced since its first meeting in 1836. The ICE Virtual Library includes the transactions, proceedings, minutes, journals of the institute and over 1500 eBooks.

J-Stage

J-STAGE is an electronic journal platform for STEM information in Japan, developed and managed by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). J-STAGE supports Japanese societies and research organisations, and has published more than 3,000 journals, conference proceedings and other academic publications.

MathSciNet

This database allows you to search for journal articles and conference proceedings in mathematics. It is the extended online equivalent of Mathematical Reviews and Current Mathematical Publications. It is updated daily and coverage starts from 1940.

Passport

Data and market research reports on consumer markets worldwide. It includes market analysis and statistics, forecasts, information on the top brands and companies in a country or sector, and overviews of the major market factors. Search either by keyword, or by using the headings at the top of the screen to choose the type of information. Updated monthly.

SciELO

SciElo is a database that provides access to scientific research from Latin America and the Caribbean. Its aim is to promote and increase the visibility of research from Latin America.

Scopus

Scopus is a large abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature from more than 18,500 journals and quality web sources, with smart tools to track, analyse and visualize research. Coverage starts from 1823.

Transport Database

The main database for transport studies, including a combination of three databases: Transportation research information series (research information on all surface transportation modes, air transport, and highway safety); International road research documentation (abstracts on highway research provided by OECD member countries); and TRANSDOC (abstracts of transportation economics literature as well as bibliographic records provided by the International Union of Railways). Coverage starts from 1988.

Web of Science

Search for journal articles using three databases; Science Citation Index, Social Science Citation Index and Arts and Humanities Citation Index. A current awareness service provides citation alerts for newly added journal articles. Each database is updated weekly.
