Michael Uva: The Evolution of Austin Wright's Sculpture

Join us as we welcome Michael Uva to talk about the evolution of Austin Wright's sculpture within the context of his influences and contemporaries.

This event accompanies the exhibition Austin Wright: Emerging Forms, which focuses on Wright's sculpture and drawings between 1955-75, a crucial period for the development of his practice and reputation in the art world.

Michael Uva has a longstanding interest in 20th century sculpture, with a particular focus on postwar British sculptors such as William Turnbull, Kenneth Armitage, Reg Butler, Bernard Meadows, and Leslie Thornton. Over the years, Michael has worked with various UK and continental museums on exhibitions related to sculpture and he is currently a member of the Tate St. Ives Advisory Council. Michael is a graduate of Harvard University and The London School of Economics.
